The appointment of former Liverpool player Rigobert Song as head coach of the Central African Republic's national team has caused a scandal in the country.
The national team's new head coach was brought in by the Ministry of Sports, not the Central African Republic Football Federation. The order regarding him was signed by Sports Minister Rodolphe Heritier Bonheur Doneng. This has created a scandal in the country.
An unnamed official of the Federation stated that they had not been informed about the appointment of the Cameroonian specialist as head coach:
It should be noted that, according to FIFA's statutes, interference by state bodies in the affairs of local federations is considered unacceptable. Therefore, even a serious penalty such as the suspension of the country's FIFA membership is envisaged.
