The head coach of the Turkish national team, Vincenzo Montella, commented on the match with Australia in the first round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
Sport.Biz reports that the match will take place on June 14.
"We know that Australia is physically strong and plays well in corners and penalty kicks, because they have tall and strong players. But I think we will have the advantage in the match, because we have more quality players and a more talented team, so we'll see what happens.
I think we have a really balanced group and all four teams are hoping to advance to the next stage. To be honest, I don't think any team is stronger or weaker than the others, and if that were the case, we might even be considered the fourth team in the group," Montella said.
In the 2026 World Cup, Turkey will play in Group D with the USA, Paraguay, and Australia.
