Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan's family members had a fight in a hotel cafe in the country's northern coast.
Sport.Biz reports that the argument was between Hassan's current wife, Dan Adam, and his sons from his first marriage.
Dan Adam's lawyer, Mohamed Shams, said that his client was assaulted and that Hassan's family members did not attack him. He said that Dan was staying at the hotel with her husband and two children, Amir and En, aged 7 and 8. The family attended a concert on Friday evening and then went to the cafe.
According to the lawyer, Hassan's two sons from his first marriage approached Dan and the children and the situation escalated into a fight. He also said that Dan was pulled by her hair and beaten, and Hassan tried to intervene and lost consciousness.
Shams accused Hassan's four children from his first marriage of attacking his client, and denied that Hassan's family members attacked him. He said it wouldn't make sense for Hassan to intentionally attack his own family members.
The lawyer said that Dan's husband did not take any legal action against the children after the incident. He also said that Hassan was present during the fight and that Dan is currently in a serious psychological state and is experiencing a nervous breakdown as a result of the incident.
The lawyer for Hassan's first wife, Hoeyda El-Garbawi, Ahmed Hamd, presented a different version of the events. Hamd said that El-Garbawi called him early on Saturday morning and asked him to come to the northern coast. The woman told him that several women attacked her and her two daughters. He claimed that Jana and Yara Hassan were injured, beaten, and dragged on the ground.
He added that Hoeyda asked for the police to be called. Police officers arrived at the scene and a report was filed. Hassan's brother, Ibrahim Hassan, later intervened to end the conflict. According to the lawyer, the parties eventually reconciled and dropped their mutual accusations.
