Tarlan Guliyev: "The club management and coaches are satisfied with me, there has been no official offer yet"

"Shafa" captain Tarlan Guliyev gave an interview to Sport24.az.


- You became champion in the First League and qualified for the Premier League. What feelings are you experiencing?
- I congratulate our fans, our team and the club management. We have a very good team. Being a captain in this squad is a special feeling. We deserved the championship and achieved our goal.


- How do you assess the season? Did you face any difficulties on the way to the championship?
- It was very difficult to express these feelings in words. This is the 10th cup in my career. I have previously won titles with "Neftchi", "Qarabag" and "Keshla". During the season, all rivals fought seriously against us. However, we became champions with a large point difference. In fact, we could have secured the gold medals 2-3 rounds earlier.


- What was the reason why other competitors could not compete with you until the end?
- I think the rivals were strong enough. Teams like "Sabail" and "Mingachevir" had players with Premier League experience. In some games, we drew when we could have won. In other words, the season was not as easy as we thought.

- What will be Shafa's main goal in the Premier League?
- I think that first of all it is necessary to form a stronger and more competitive team. It would not be correct to say that we will fight for the top "three" in our debut season. But we will do our best to be at the top and make our fans happy with successful results.


- Will you stay in the team? Has a new contract been offered?
- To be honest, there has been no official offer yet. But the club management and the coaching staff have stated that they are satisfied with me. Everything will be clear in time.
