Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has commented on the discussions surrounding the "Free Mainoo" shirt.
Idman.Biz reports that the expert emphasized that the young midfielder is not responsible for this issue.
Amorim drew attention to Kobbie Mainoo's character and behavior on the field:
"Kobbie is a shy boy, but it's not his responsibility. He is only responsible for his actions, and his action in the last game was to play well. That's all I'm focused on. This shirt story has nothing to do with Kobbie."
He also denied claims that Mainoo was being kept in reserve, saying the rotation was misinterpreted:
"I don't mean Kobbie is a great player. Or keep him in reserve to prove something. On the contrary, maybe he will play in the next game, perform well and show everyone that it is impossible to remove this player from the team. I would be very happy with that."
The head coach also touched on Manchester United's January plans:
"It is possible for us to do something. We will only try to bring in players that we deem suitable for the future. We will not make transfers to compensate for losses related to the Africa Cup of Nations. Now and in July, we will try to attract players who are suitable for the club in the long term."
It should be noted that Manchester United fans have been wearing "Free Mainoo" shirts at the stadium and on social networks in protest of Mainoo being kept in reserve in some games.
