Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has stated that he maintains high energy and motivation even after nearly 10 years at the club.
Idman.Biz reports, citing The Guardian, that the Spanish specialist's statements came against the backdrop of news that Manchester City are considering options to prepare for his possible departure in the summer. Guardiola's contract is valid for another year. Enzo Maresca is mentioned as one of his possible replacements.
"It would not have been possible to work here for 10 years if there was not this environment, even if we had won a lot of titles. I can’t explain exactly how I feel right now, but I still have a lot of energy. I even come to work on my days off," said Guardiola.
The specialist emphasized that the club's success is not only related to the players but also to the overall system. According to him, the main reason for Manchester City's long-term success is a stable structure and a working system.
"When Gündoğan returned from Barcelona, he described Manchester City as a top-level club. This shows that we are on the right track. We have been consistently performing in the Champions League for many years and are constantly fighting for titles. This is the result of the system, tactics, and stability."
He also noted that he is currently calmer compared to the previous season:
"I feel pressure before the match, but I feel more relaxed in between games. Last season, I thought about the possibility of not qualifying for the Champions League for 24 hours, and it affected me a lot. This season, we have already won the League Cup, reached the final of the FA Cup, and continue to fight for the championship with Arsenal. This is a positive thing."
It is worth noting that Manchester City will face Everton away in the next round and will try to reduce the point difference with Premier League leaders Arsenal.
