New postage stamps have been issued to mark the 80th anniversary of Anatoli Banishevski, the legendary Azerbaijani footballer, with the initiative of AFFA and the support of Azerpost LLC. Sport24.az reports that the new philatelic product reflects Banishevski's rich sporting heritage.
The issue consists of one postage stamp. At the same time, special postcards were also prepared for the anniversary. The circulation of the postal block is 2,500, and the circulation of postcards is 1,000.
This initiative is of great importance in terms of preserving Banishevski's legacy and passing it on to future generations.
It should be noted that Anatoli Banishevski went down in history as one of the most prominent football players of Azerbaijan in the 20th century. As part of the USSR national team, he took 4th place at the 1966 World Championship and won a silver medal at the 1972 European Championship.
At the club level, in 1966, as part of "Neftchi", he became the bronze medalist of the USSR Championship. Banishevski, who played more than 50 matches in the USSR national team, was awarded the "Shohrat" Order in 1996. In 2004, according to UEFA, he was chosen as the best football player of Azerbaijan in the last 50 years.
