American entrepreneur, investor and founder of the internet company "Amazon" Jeff Bezos will join an investment group that will acquire about 30% of Liverpool's shares.
Sport.Biz reports this with reference to Sky News.
According to the source, the deal is being completed by a consortium led by Amit Bhatia, the son-in-law of billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, the former co-owner of "Queens Park Rangers". The investment will be $2 billion, which will bring the club's total value under the deal to $6 billion. The official announcement of the agreement may be published this week.
"Liverpool" is currently owned by "Fenway Sports Group" (FSG), led by John Henry: the club was bought in 2010 for £300 million (405 million dollars). Under the leadership of FSG, the team has won major trophies, including the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
