Germany national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann has compiled a preliminary squad of 55 players for the 2026 World Cup. Sport24.az reports, citing insider Florian Plettenberg, that Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is one of the five goalkeepers on the list.
The 40-year-old footballer's return to the national team is considered possible. Neuer could even be the number one goalkeeper. Negotiations have been ongoing in this direction for several days.
Germany's opponents in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup will be Curaçao, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador.
It should be noted that Neuer played for the German national team from 2009 to 2024. After Euro 2024, the goalkeeper announced his departure from the national team. He has played 124 matches for the German national team.
