Mahmud Gurbanov's comment on "Zira" not withstanding "Sabah's" attacks

"Zira" could not withstand "Sabah's" attacks until the end in the final of the Azerbaijan Cup.

This was stated by the former coach of the Azerbaijani national team, Mahmud Gurbanov.

The experienced expert shared his views on the final match.

"Zira" was 1:0 ahead, they scored a beautiful goal. But they could not keep the score. I think they did not have the strength to withstand "Sabah's" attacks until the end. True, "Sabah's" player scored a very good goal with an acrobatic jump. Nevertheless, it was obvious that "Zira" wanted to keep the score and preferred to play more defensively. However, "Sabah's" attacks were more dangerous. As a result, they equalized and scored the winning goal in a quick counterattack in the last minutes," he said in a statement to report.az.

He highly appreciated "Sabah's" performance in the 2025/2026 season:

"This season was successful for the "Sabah" team. They won a gold medal in the championship and also won the cup, signing a "golden double". With beautiful play and positive results, they showed that they were the strongest in both the championship and the cup this season. "Sabah" has a very good team in terms of both the team and the individual quality of the players."
