Galatasaray midfielder Lucas Torreira was beaten in a shopping center in Istanbul.

The incident happened on the evening of May 12. A 32-year-old man approached the Galatasaray football player in the shopping center and punched Torreira in the face. The football player's driver intervened and hit the attacker to prevent the conflict from escalating. The attacker then tried to escape the scene in a taxi, but was detained by the police.
During the interrogation, the suspect stated that he found the football player through social media posts and that the attack was due to the football player's interest in his girlfriend. Torreira told the police that the girl was his girlfriend and that the court had previously ordered the attacker to stay away from the girl for 45 days.
Torreira moved to Galatasaray in 2022 from London's Arsenal. This season, he played 44 games in all competitions for the club, scored four goals and provided four assists.
