A new claim has come to the fore regarding the future of Argentine striker Mauro Icardi in the Turkish football team "Galatasaray". Sport24.az reports that the Istanbul representative has offered the footballer, whose contract is about to expire, a salary reduction for a new agreement.
However, Icardi rejected this offer.
According to reports, the "Galatasaray" management planned to offer the 33-year-old striker, who earns 10 million euros (20 million AZN) annually, a new contract for approximately half the amount. It is reported that the player's age and the decline in his performance in recent times played a role in this decision.
According to reports, the Argentine forward was dissatisfied with the idea of reducing his salary and this approach caused resentment in him. The Turkish press claims that Icardi has already made the decision to leave.
It is noted that after this situation, "Galatasaray" has accelerated its efforts to transfer two new players to the attacking line.
