A new claim has emerged regarding the future of Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi, who plays for the Turkish football team Galatasaray.
İdman.Biz reports, citing Milliyet, that the Istanbul representative offered the player, whose contract is about to expire, a salary reduction for a new agreement. However, Icardi rejected this offer.
According to allegations, the Galatasaray management planned to offer the 33-year-old striker, who earns 10 million euros (20 million AZN) annually, a new contract for approximately half that amount. It is reported that the player's age and the decline in his performance in recent times played a role in this decision.
According to reports, the Argentinian forward was dissatisfied with the idea of a salary reduction, and this approach created resentment in him. The Turkish press claims that Icardi has already made the decision to leave.
It is noted that after this situation, Galatasaray accelerated its efforts to transfer two new players to the attacking line.
