The President of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Gabriele Gravina, spoke about the need to prevent improper behavior by officials.
Idman.Biz reports that several high-profile incidents have occurred in Italian football in recent weeks.
Cagliari midfielder Michael Folorunsho was filmed insulting Roma defender Mario Hermoso during a match. In the semi-final match of the Italian Super Cup, Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri clashed with Napoli coach Gabriele Oriali on the sidelines.
"This is a cultural problem. We must rediscover the basic sense of decency, otherwise people will be convinced that the more they shout, the more they will influence the referee's decision. Instead, this is simply a defeat for the image of Italian football. Let's put an end to this continuous aggression, this applies to everyone: presidents, directors, players, coaches and fans. We talk endlessly about fair play and ethics, we run these campaigns, we write slogans on our chests and then go out on the field and ignore all this," Football Italia quotes Gravina as saying.
