Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has commented on his team's unsuccessful season. The head of the club, which failed to win a single trophy in the 2025/26 season, stated in an interview with El Chiringuito TV that the problem stemmed from the FIFA Club World Cup held last year:
"The root of the failure lies in the FIFA Club World Cup. We didn't prepare well for the pre-season games. We were playing every three days. We had a lot of injuries."
It should be noted that the "Royal Club" finished second in La Liga this season. They were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals, losing to Bayern. They were eliminated from the Copa del Rey in the 1/8 finals, losing 2-3 to Albeseta. In the Super Cup final, they lost 2-3 to Barcelona.
