The Sports Science Forum was held today in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
According to the Georgian bureau of "Report", the event discussed the development of sports, especially football, the protection of athletes' health, as well as strengthening the legal and scientific foundations in this field.
Shota Arveladze, a well-known Georgian football player who spoke within the framework of the Forum, said that the initiative to establish the Institute of Scientific Development of Sports in Tbilisi is also on the agenda. According to him, this institute, unlike classical higher education institutions, will play the role of a specialized education, scientific research and medical support platform for athletes:
"The institute will focus on human anatomy, protecting the health of athletes, creating conditions for actively playing sports even after the age of 40, and international cooperation. Not only Georgian athletes, but also athletes from other countries will be able to receive education and support here."
He also emphasized that this initiative was inspired by the legacy of the world-famous football legend Johan Cruyff:
"Such events are held in Georgia because Cruyff himself was a philosopher. He showed that sport is not only physical strength - mental preparation and knowledge are also important. Combining education and sport should be a key priority for future generations. For example, thanks to this approach, football players such as Messi or Ronaldo manage to stay in top form until they are 40 years old."
Shota Arveladze added that such institutes contribute to the development of culture along with sports and allow athletes to extend their careers. According to him, this model can be applied in Azerbaijan in the future:
"This is not an academy, but an institute. It operates on the basis of a license, and it is possible to operate with a license in different countries. Of course, such an institute can be established in Azerbaijan as well."
Arveladze, who highly appreciates cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan in the field of sports, said:
"We are brotherly and friendly countries. Our athletes achieve great success individually. I am sure that in the future we will see higher results in all areas of sports," said Arveladze.
