"I think it was a very interesting game."
This was stated by Sabah striker Coy Lens Mikels in an interview with sportnet.az after the final match of the Bizon Azerbaijan Cup, in which they defeated Zira 2:1.
We present that interview.
- Could you share your thoughts on the game?
- I think it was a very interesting game. Especially for Sabah fans who support us. Frankly, I expected more from Zira. They were mainly defending. Their first shot was a goal, but overall they didn't add much to the game. I would like both teams to show attacking football in the final match. But in the end it doesn't matter. We won and I'm very happy about that. We also finished the season with a "golden double".
- You became the champion of Azerbaijan, you are the top scorer of the national championship. Do you consider this season the peak of your career?
- Yes, I think this is the best season of my career. I had a truly incredible year. The head coach helped me a lot. His game system allows me to play the football I want. I reciprocate this with goals and productive passes. I am happy to work with such a coach and such a team. At the beginning of the season, I did not expect the team to be so strong. But the coach made some changes and now we are in a very good position.
- What are your expectations for the Champions League? Have you researched potential rivals?
- Frankly, I don't know who we will face. But we'll see. To advance to the group stage, we have to win every game. I hope we can do it and then all of Azerbaijan will support us.
