The Spanish football club "Barcelona" may temporarily leave the "Camp Nou" stadium again due to ongoing reconstruction work.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to "Diari ARA" that the installation of the new roof, planned for the summer of 2027, will take longer than expected. It is reported that the work, initially planned for four and a half months, may be extended to seven months. During this period, it will be impossible to hold games in the arena.
Earlier, the club's chief operating officer Joan Sentelles noted that the team may play the last three rounds of the 2026/27 season and the first three games of the next championship away. This is intended to vacate the stadium for work.
"Estadi Johan Cruyff" and "Montjuïc Olympic Stadium" are being considered as temporary options. However, the first option does not meet La Liga requirements in terms of capacity, and the second is associated with additional financial costs.
Club president Joan Laporta is also exploring the possibility of increasing the capacity of the "Estadi Johan Cruyff" stadium from 6 thousand to 16 thousand. Permission must be obtained from the city authorities for this.
It should be reminded that "Camp Nou" was partially opened after reconstruction - about 60 thousand spectators attended the game with "Sevilla" in the stands.
