Orkhan Mammadov, a member of the Azerbaijan national beach soccer team, shared his impressions of being selected as the best player in the first qualifying round of the European Championship.
Idman.biz reports that he stated in an interview with "Report" that this is the first time he has achieved such success in his career.
"Our main goal in the tournament was to qualify for the European Superfinal. We played three games. We beat England and Belgium. We lost to the Lithuanian national team in extra time. I scored 3 goals in the game against Lithuania when the team was behind. I also scored a goal against Belgium. In the end, I was chosen as the best player. This is a great achievement for me. This is the first time I have achieved such success in Europe in my career. I am very happy. I thank my head coach and teammates. I achieved this success thanks to them," O. Mammadov emphasized.
He emphasized that they want to qualify for the A League: "We have set a goal for ourselves, and we will do our best to get the national team promoted to the A League. But the groups and the opponents we will face are not yet known."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan national team defeated England 5:4 and Belgium 11:2 in the matches they played in the first qualifying round of the European Championship. The team lost to Lithuania 3:4 in the last match of the stage.
The team, coached by Sahib Mammadov, will compete in the Superfinal to be held in Italy between September 7-14. The teams that take the first two places in the competition, which will be held with the participation of 8 teams, will be promoted to the A League.
