Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that 41-year-old defender Thiago Silva will be part of the squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that Silva currently plays for Porto, with a contract until June 30, 2026.
"Yes, Thiago Silva is part of our plans. He is playing very well, he won the Portuguese championship and is in excellent physical condition. Leaders are important. Fortunately, there are many influential leaders in this squad. These are players who do not talk much, but set a good example - players like Alisson, Casemiro, Marquinhos and Rafinha. In this sense, the team is in safe hands," Ancelotti told The Guardian.
At the 2026 World Cup, Brazil will play Morocco, Haiti and Scotland in Group C.
