Russian grandmaster and 14th world champion Vladimir Kramnik has announced his intention to sue in connection with numerous threats addressed to him on social media after the death of 29-year-old American chess player Daniel Naroditsky.
According to İdman.Biz, Kramnik posted a screenshot of a death wish directed at him and published a corresponding post.
Kramnik wrote on his personal X social media account: "We have already received hundreds of similar messages. The team of lawyers has informed the police, and within a few hours a letter will be prepared to be sent to the court to open a criminal case. From now on, anyone who falsely accuses me will be held accountable to prevent such cases from happening again."
After the news of Naroditsky's death on October 20, accusations against Kramnik appeared on social networks: Kramnik had previously raised suspicions about Daniel's involvement in chess fraud and noted the player's unusual behavior during games. Users believe that Kramnik's behavior affected Naroditsky's psychological state and led to his death.
