Another competition has ended in the "Chess Tour Azerbaijan" project, which was implemented for the first time on the initiative of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation. Sport24.az reports that the final round games of the fifth competition of the project, "Guba Open", were held.
In group A of the festival, Khagan Ahmad surpassed all his rivals and won the competition. Yevgeni Romanov, a representative of North Macedonia who scored the same 7 points as Khagan Ahmad, finished the competition in second place according to additional indicators. Vugar Manafov, who scored 6.5 points in 9 rounds, took the third place.
Hamza Rzazade became the first in the B tournament with 8 points. Kenan Imranli and Elgun Malikov, who had 7.5 points in their assets, shared the 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
Vugar Manafov won the rapid tournament held within the framework of the festival. Suleyman Suleymanli, who had the same points, had to settle for the second place. It is interesting that these chess players also took the first places in the blitz tournament. Suleyman Suleymanli was the first and Vugar Manafov was the second in blitz.
It should be noted that 237 chess players from 10 countries competed in the "Guba Open" festival. In addition to Azerbaijan, chess players from Germany, Israel, Kuwait, Ukraine, Latvia, Turkey, Georgia, North Macedonia and India participated in the competition.
The next competition related to the Azerbaijan Chess Tour will be the "Vugar Gashimov Open", which will be held in Baku.
