Today, the court held in the Antalya Courthouse fully acquitted Elshan Abdulrahimov, the first vice-president of the Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation (AKF), who was accused of ordering an attack on Araz Musayev, who calls himself the "President of the Azerbaijan Muay-tay Federation."
According to Idman.Biz, two other Azerbaijani citizens, Azer Hasanov (Hasansoy) and Vugar Asadov, whom Araz Musayev accused of ordering the assassination attempt, were also acquitted.
"I am glad that the Turkish judicial system has put things right and completely acquitted us. This is a very important point, because from the day we were arrested, we did not understand exactly what we were being accused of. Our only "sin" was participating in the World Kickboxing Championship held in Antalya and being in the sports palace where the competition was held on that fateful day - May 28 of last year," Elshan Abdulrahimov told Idman.Biz.
It should be reminded that the incident occurred during the IFMA U23 Muay-tay World Championship held in the Kemer district. Araz Musayev received two stab wounds to the abdomen and blows to the head at the "Atatürk" Sports Hall.
Immediately after the attack, Turkish police detained Elshan Abdulrahimov, the first vice-president of the Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation, Azer Hasansoy, and Vugar Asadov, the head coach of the Azerbaijan Muay-tay national team.
After the court's acquittal decision, all three persons can return to Azerbaijan.
