The 1/4 final fights have started at the "Strandja" international boxing tournament in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Sport24.az reports that 2 athletes of the Azerbaijani national team won this stage and advanced to the semifinals.
In the 50 kg weight category, Bilalhəbaşi Nazarov faced Rudolf Garboyan (Armenia). The boxer defeated the Armenian European champion with a score of 4:1 (28:29, 29:28, 29:28, 29:28, 30:27) in his first international competition among adults.
Nazarov will fight Siyovush Mukhammadiyev (Ukraine) in the semifinals.
Malik Hasanov (65 kg) also won his next victory. He defeated Yertugan Zeynulinov (Kazakhstan) with a score of 5:0 (29:27, 28*:28, 28*:28, 28*:28, 29:27). Hasanov will face Yuri Falkao (Brazil) for a ticket to the final.
By qualifying for the semifinals, both boxers have secured at least a bronze medal for themselves.
It should be noted that the semi-final matches in "Strandja" will be held on February 28.
