Azerbaijani boxer Subhan Mammadov (48 kg) has become the world champion.
Lent.az reports with reference to apasport.az that the 19-year-old athlete of the national team won this title at the world championship held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The graduate of the Agjabadi boxing school, who won the U-23 European Championship at the end of November, faced Edmond Khudoyan (Russia) in the final. Mammadov defeated his opponent with a score of 4:3 (30:27, 28:29, 29:28, 30:27, 28:29, judges 1:1) and won the gold medal of the world championship. With this, he went down in history as the youngest world champion of Azerbaijan.
Thus, our national team finished the world championship, which was attended by 120 countries, with 1 gold and 2 bronze medals. Earlier, Alfonso Dominges (92 kg) and Muhammad Abdullayev (+92 kg) took 3rd place at the world championship.
