Azerbaijani young boxer Rza Rzayev (70 kg), who won a gold medal at the "Adriatic Pearl" international tournament held in Budva, Montenegro, aims to become a world and Olympic champion.
The athlete gave an interview to "Report" about this.
He shared his thoughts on winning the World Cup status competition:
"Raising the Azerbaijani flag and playing the National Anthem is an honor and a privilege for me. But I will not be satisfied with this. One of my biggest goals is to become a world and Olympic champion. I will continue training and I am ready to do everything I can for this".
The boxer recalled that he was included in the national team after becoming the national champion among young people:
"Before the tournament in Montenegro, I participated in a training camp under the leadership of our head coach Elbrus Rzayev. My goal was to return to my homeland only with a gold medal. There were technical and tactical preparations for this. My first fight with the representative of Croatia was a little difficult. Nevertheless, I won with a score of 5:0 and advanced to the semi-finals and secured at least a bronze medal. I also defeated the representative of Kyrgyzstan with the same score and advanced to the final. Here my opponent was Bulgarian. I showed him my strength in the first round and won 4:1 and won the gold medal".
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team won 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in the competition with the participation of 18 countries .
