Mauricio Ruffi, who defeated Azerbaijani fighter Rafael Fiziev by technical knockout in the second round at the UFC 325 tournament in Sydney, made a statement after the fight.
İdman.Biz reports that the Brazilian fighter paid special attention to the manner of achieving victory and his self-confidence in the post-fight interview.
"I am completely satisfied with my performance, I believed in a successful result from the beginning. I consider the victory over Fiziev to be only the beginning of a series of great moments in my career. I am focused on spectacular and high-profile fights from now on," said Ruffi.
Ruffi also recalled his defeat to Benoît Saint-Denis in September last year (Saint-Denis defeated Dan Hooker at the tournament in Sydney):
"The victory over Fiziev was a strong comeback after the previous failure. I think this fight showed my development as a fighter and that I am ready for more serious challenges."
It should be noted that the Brazilian athlete also spoke about his future plans:
"After the technical knockout over Rafael, I want to fight with well-known names in the lightweight division. Matches with Conor McGregor and Paddy Pimblett attract me. Even a fight with McGregor could be a bigger event than his possible fight with Michael Chandler."
