British fighter Paddy Pimblett, 31, ranked fifth in the UFC lightweight division, has responded to current UFC champion Ilia Topuria's decision to take a break from his career due to a court case involving his wife, a Spanish-Georgian athlete.
Idman.Biz reports that Pimblett has urged Topuria to vacate the belt if he does not want to fight.
"I really want to fight him, so it's a double-edged sword. I want to beat Ilia and show everyone that I can beat him. But at the same time, if he makes me wait like Tom (Aspinall) is waiting for Jon (Jones), then no, the fight won't happen. Just vacate the belt and let the division move on," Pimblett said on Aspinall's YouTube channel.
In January, Paddy will fight Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight championship.
