Azerbaijani boxers won 231 medals at international competitions in 2025. Sport24.az reports that the Boxing Federation has released information about this.
This year, Azerbaijani national teams in various age groups won 231 medals. The teams won these awards at 47 international competitions they participated in. 69 of them are gold, 60 are silver and 102 are bronze. As a result, the teams achieved a 44 percent improvement compared to last year.
Boxers won 5 of the 231 awards at world championships and 55 at European championships (both "World Boxing" and IBA). Athletes climbed the honorary podium 21 (9-8-4) times at the Gymnasiada Sports Games, 3 (0-0-3) at the World Cup, 24 (6-5-13) at the III CIS Games and 6 (1-3-2) at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games.
Bilalhəbaşi Nəzərov (50 kg) from our team entered our boxing history as a two-time winner of the continental championship among youth by winning a gold medal at the U-19 European Championship. Khumar Jafarli (75 kg) also realized the first by becoming the first in the European Championship for schoolchildren. She made history as the first Azerbaijani female boxer to win a gold medal in this age group.
Abbasali Mammadli (48 kg), Nurlan Museyibli (66 kg), Ziraddin Rustamli (70 kg), Mehran Rasulov (80 kg) of schoolchildren, Amina Taghi (50 kg), Gular Huseynova (48 kg) and Gardash Rahimov (46 kg) of adolescents defeated all their opponents at the European Championships and sang the Azerbaijani anthem.
19-year-old Subhan Mammadov (50 kg) won the title of European champion among U-23s and world champion among adults. Our teams showed 72 percent higher results in world and European championships compared to 2024.
Our national teams in different age groups were represented by 477 boxers in 47 competitions. 48.4 percent of them finished their performance with a medal.
It should be noted that a year ago our boxers won 135 (44-48-68) medals in 35 international competitions.
