The "UFC Fight Night" tournament, which will be held in Baku on June 27, has lost one of its participants.
Idman.Biz reports that in the third fight of the main card, former title contender Marvin Vettori was scheduled to face Ismail Naurdiev.
However, the Italian fighter was forced to withdraw from the fight. Vettori stated that he was injured during training camp.
"At first I didn't think the injury was serious. But the MRI showed a fracture. After that, the doctors did not allow me to fight," he said.
The Italian fighter also expressed emotional thoughts in his statement. He noted that it is a difficult time for him because he has been preparing for his return for a long time and wants to return to the octagon after previous difficult fights.
"My psychological state is also not good due to the constant obstacles in my career. I really wanted to fight in Baku, but everything developed according to the worst scenario," Vettori added.
This is also considered a serious loss for the UFC. Because Vettori is not only a former title contender in the middleweight division, but also one of the most famous fighters. His fight with Ismail Naurdiev was considered one of the most interesting fights on the card.
According to MMA Mania, doctors predict that Vettori will recover in approximately 4-6 weeks. This creates the possibility that the UFC may postpone the fight to one of the later tournaments if it wishes.

Naurdiev is currently without an opponent. UFC has not yet announced whether he will find a new opponent or whether the fight will be removed from the card altogether. The MMA community is discussing whether the organization can find a replacement opponent for him in a short time.
