The traditional fifth Lankaran-Astara regional boxing tournament dedicated to the memory of Vusal Kazimov, the martyr of the Patriotic War, Senior Lieutenant, was held in Lankaran.
Idman.Biz reports that the National Anthem was played and the memory of the martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence at the opening ceremony of the competition held at the Southern Regional Boxing Center with the joint organization of Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sports Department and the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation.
Teymur Babazade, head of Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sports Department, Kamran Kazimov, father of martyr Vusal Kazimov, professor, and Anar Nagiyev, representative of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, international category judge, spoke about the combat path of our martyrs and the heroism they showed as an example for the young generation, the attention and care of the head of our state Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva to the families of the martyrs, and emphasized the perpetuation of the names of the martyrs and honoring their memory.
Then, chief judge Nazim Gulamov started the competition. 48 athletes from Lankaran, Astara, Masalli and Jalilabad regions competed in different weight categories. The athletes who took places were awarded with diplomas and medals.
