Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov explained why he doesn't try to form friendships with the fighters he faced in the octagon.
Idman.Biz, citing Sportskeeda, reports that the 37-year-old UFC Hall of Famer emphasized that respect is possible between opponents, but there can be no talk of friendship.
"No, we have to be polite. But friendship will never come from that. How can you be friends with a guy if he's trying to break your face? It's a completely different thing," Nurmagomedov said.
It should be reminded that Khabib's last fight was on October 24, 2020, at the UFC 254 tournament held on Yas Island near Abu Dhabi, and in the second round he defeated interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje with a choke hold. This victory was the 29th in Nurmagomedov's professional career, after which he announced that he had completed his performances in mixed martial arts.
