Adedamola Joshua, uncle of former world boxing champion Anthony Joshua, spoke about the details of the deadly accident in Nigeria involving the athlete.
İdman.Biz reports that he strongly criticized the actions of local authorities and emergency services.
According to the boxer's relative, while Joshua was at the scene of the accident and in the damaged car, people around him stole his mobile phone instead of helping him. The government and the police did not react properly to such incidents.
"You see them taking out their phones and filming the scene when they should be helping, and even stealing from the victims. This is wrong. We even heard that Anthony Joshua's phone was stolen during the accident. Such behavior must stop. The police and other emergency services must immediately arrive at the scene of the accident and cordon it off."
I want to condemn the indifference of our government to all matters related to emergencies. After the accident, Joshua should have been on a stretcher, but he was walking in the middle of the road, and it hurts to watch," the Nigerian publication "The Punch" quoted Anthony's uncle as saying.
