Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of 34-year-old Russian Islam Makhachev, the current UFC lightweight champion, has reacted to rumors that his client's next opponent will be Irishman Ian Garry, who fights in the 77 kg weight category.
Idman.Biz reports that the manager has denied the rumors.
"Ian (Garry's) name is not in the mix. This is a bigger event. One of the biggest fights the UFC can put together right now. Stay tuned," Abdelaziz wrote on social media.
Makhachev is currently on a 16-fight winning streak in the UFC. His record is 28 wins and one loss. Makhachev last fought Australian Jack Della Maddalena at "UFC 322" in New York City. Makhachev won the fight by unanimous decision.
