Current UFC lightweight champion (up to 77.1 kg), 34-year-old Russian Islam Makhachev, admitted that he regrets moving to welterweight late.
İdman.Biz reports that the Red Corner MMA account on the X social network reported this.
Speaking about the path to the title in two divisions, Makhachev said:
"When I started, I only dreamed of being in the top 15. After entering the top 15, then the top 10, and winning the belt, I realized that I could go higher. In my last fight, I was not inferior to my opponent in terms of measurements. We competed equally, and after subjecting my body to serious weight cuts for years, I regret a little that I didn't do it sooner."
