The current UFC lightweight champion (up to 77 kg), 34-year-old Russian Islam Makhachev, has chosen the greatest fighter in UFC history.
Idman.Biz reports that Makhachev has shown confidence in his compatriot.
"I choose Khabib," Makhachev said in an interview with TNT Sports.
Recall that Khabib Nurmagomedov's last fight was on October 24, 2020, at UFC 254 held on Yas Island near Abu Dhabi, UAE. His opponent was interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje.
The fight ended with the Russian athlete winning by submission in the second round. This was Nurmagomedov's 29th victory in his career. After the fight, Khabib announced his retirement from mixed martial arts.
