The Azerbaijani national karate team has set an interesting and new goal for this year.
Irina Zaretska (68 kg), a member of the team, told "Report" about this in her statement.
She said that she and her team have new goals:
"We intend to qualify for the World Cup in mixed team kumite. Azerbaijan has not yet participated in this tournament in the mixed team category. Our goal is to qualify for that competition."
I. Zaretska also shared her thoughts on winning a bronze medal at the Karate1 Premier League tournament held in Rome, the capital of Italy:
"It was my first competition of the season. It is a good start to be among the winners again. Why couldn't I qualify for the final? I don't know how to answer this question. This is a very high-level competition. Karate is a sport in which the course of the fight changes at any moment and it is difficult to change the situation in your favor. I always go to tournaments ready and focused on the maximum result. My stable presence on the podium confirms this."
The silver medalist of the Takio-2020 Summer Olympic Games also announced the competitions they will participate in in the coming months:
"The Karate1 Premier League will be held in China in April. The same tournament will be held in Morocco in June. There will also be a European Championship in May. I am currently focusing all my attention on these."
