28-year-old undefeated Spanish-Georgian UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria has made a statement about his future with the North American organization.
Idman.Biz reports that Topuria is currently going through a difficult period in his personal life.
"Due to the difficult period I am going through in my personal life, I am not planning to fight in the first quarter of 2026. For now, I want to focus on my children and resolve this situation as soon as possible. I also don't want to hold up the division. The UFC will organize all the necessary fights, and as soon as all the issues are resolved, I will let the fighters know that I am ready to return," Topuria wrote on his X social media account.
The Spanish-Georgian fighter made his professional mixed martial arts debut in April 2015. He began competing in the North American Matador League in October 2020. Ilia has 17 victories, only two of which were by decision.
