UFC's second-ranked welterweight fighter, Irishman Ian Garry, explained the reason for the conflict with 31-year-old undefeated UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev, who represents the UAE, behind the scenes of UFC Fight Night 265 in Doha, Qatar.
Idman.Biz reports that the conflict stemmed from Chimaev's misunderstanding of the situation.
"I turned around and saw a security guard standing between us. At that moment I thought: "aha, why are you here?" We were having a friendly conversation with Khamzat without any aggression. We weren't preparing to fight, and I think that at that moment, due to the language barrier and misunderstanding, Khamzat misunderstood the situation. He thought I was going to fight him and started swearing," Garry told Sportskeeda.
