Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou of Cameroon has stated that he does not intend to end his career in combat sports anytime soon.
"I'm not done (with MMA) yet. What does it mean to say 'at this stage of my career?' I still like MMA. I'm in better shape than ever. For the last nine months, I've been going to the gym every day just because I enjoy it. Right now, that's my full-time job. Of course, I'm busy with other things, but that's my full-time job. I just wake up, happily go to the gym, do what I want to do, and then see if I have a fight opportunity.
That's also the privilege of being a free man. You go out, do what you love, and then if an opportunity to fight comes up, you do it. If that's not possible, you do your job, make a living, and keep moving forward.
It's good to do something because you want to, because you love it. I think that's when the real fun of fighting begins. You don't feel forced, you don't have to fight; you want to fight. It's better to fight when you want to, and that's exactly where I am right now," Ngannou said.
