Madina Sadigova, who won a gold medal in the 55 kg weight category at the European Karate Championship held in Germany, has returned to her homeland.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to report.az that among those who met the members of our karate team at Heydar Aliyev International Airport were representatives of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation and its subordinate organization, the Association of Sports Organizations of Azerbaijan Trade Unions.
Madina Sadigova expressed her gratitude on behalf of the athletes to our state and the head of our state for the attention and care shown to the development of sports in our country, and thanked everyone who supported her in the preparation process for the competition:
"I also work as a coach-teacher at the Association of Sports Organizations of Azerbaijan Trade Unions. I had prepared seriously for the competitions. After my success at the Islamic Solidarity Games, my next goal was to become a European champion. I achieved my goal. I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, the Azerbaijan Karate Federation, and the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation for their support. It is a matter of pride for me to be greeted with such enthusiasm in my homeland."
The athlete, who won the first gold medal in the 55 kg weight category in women's karate, said that the final match was difficult:
"I was familiar with my opponent, we knew each other well. Although I was behind in the score at the beginning of the match, I managed to win the title of European champion with a score of 9:6 in the end."
The European champion's coach, Seymur Khudaverdiyev, said that he believes that the young athlete's success will be continuous:
"Madina is a very disciplined athlete. We all believed that she would become a European champion. She also lived up to our expectations. We believe that our athlete will also be successful in the World Championship."
It should be noted that Madina Sadigova, a representative of the Association of Sports Organizations of Azerbaijan Trade Unions, is the first Azerbaijani female karateka to win the title of European champion among adults in the 55 kg weight category.
