A scandalous incident occurred at the final of the World Boxing Championship in Dubai, UAE, in 2025, involving Russian representative Vsevolod Shumkov.

During the fight with Uzbek Olympic champion Abdumalik Khalokov, Shumkov bit his opponent's ear.
"Shumkov bit Khalokov's ear during the fight in the final of the IBA World Boxing Championships. This is a clear violation of the rules and should be punished with disqualification," Uzbek journalist Jalol Ahmedov wrote on the "X" social network.
Despite the incident, the final match for the gold medal in the 60 kg weight category was not stopped. At the end of the fight, the victory was awarded to Russian boxer Vsevolod Shumkov by a split decision of the judges.
