Former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez has been stripped of his five-year probation.
Idman.Biz reports this with reference to "MMA Junkie."
According to police, the 44-year-old American was arrested in July 2025 after firing a gun out of his car window while passing a road stop. Sanchez pleaded guilty to the charge of firing a weapon from a vehicle (a fourth-degree felony). A second charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon was dropped.
Prosecutors sought a two-year prison sentence for the former fighter. Instead, the court imposed five years of probation. Sanchez stated that at the time of the incident, he was suffering from mental health issues and addictions and was trying to overcome these addictions.
Sanchez rose to fame as a participant in the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter" (2005). He participated in 22 UFC fights from 2005 to 2022. After leaving the promotion, he had one fight in the BKFC bare-knuckle fighting league in February 2023. It is unknown whether Sanchez plans to return to combat sports.
