Former UFC champion in two weight classes, Irishman Conor McGregor, has stated that he wants to fight Russian Islam Makhachev for the welterweight title.
İdman.Biz reports that McGregor's professional record is 22 wins and six losses.
"I absolutely want to fight for the welterweight belt. It would be a good fight. Southpaw versus southpaw. Islam performed well. Fair play, he had the courage to move up in weight. I look forward to it," BloodyElbow quotes McGregor as saying.
The Irishman has not fought in mixed martial arts since losing to former UFC interim lightweight champion American Dustin Poirier by technical knockout in the first round at "UFC 264" in July 2021.
In his last fight at UFC 322 in New York, Makhachev faced Australian Jack Della Maddalena and defeated him by unanimous decision. With this victory, Makhachev became the welterweight champion of the promotion.
