Mexican boxer Saul Canelo Alvarez will not participate in the fight for the vacant IBF world title.
İdman.Biz, citing "Bloody Elbow", reports that the International Boxing Federation had previously inquired whether Alvarez and undefeated Cuban Osleys Iglesias were ready to fight for the vacant belt. However, Canelo said that it was impossible for him to enter the ring in the near future.
It is noted that Alvarez underwent elbow surgery in September 2025 after losing to Terrence Crawford and is currently in the rehabilitation stage.
The IBF title was declared vacant after Crawford's decision to end his professional career.
Thus, Jaime Munguia, a Mexican who is next in the organization's rating, could be Osleys Iglesias' next likely opponent for the vacant IBF super middleweight title. Munguia had previously lost to Alvarez in May 2024.
