The traditional fifth Lankaran-Astara regional boxing tournament dedicated to the memory of the Patriotic War martyr, Senior Lieutenant Vusal Kazimov, was held in Lankaran. Sport24.az reports that the opening ceremony of the competition, which was jointly organized by the Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sports Department and the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation at the Southern Regional Boxing Center, featured the National Anthem and a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs.
Teymur Babazade, Head of the Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sports Department, Professor Kamran Kazimov, father of the martyr Vusal Kazimov, and Anar Nagiyev, representative of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation and international referee, spoke about the combat path of our martyrs and the heroism they showed as an example for the younger generation, and the attention and care of our head of state Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for the families of the martyrs. The eternalization of the names of the martyrs and the honoring of their memory were especially emphasized.
Then, chief referee Nazim Gulamov started the competition. 48 athletes from Lankaran, Astara, Masalli and Jalilabad regions competed in different weight categories. The athletes who took places were awarded with diplomas and medals.
