Aslanbek Badaev, Vice President of the Russian ACA promotion, commented on Rafael Fiziev's defeat by technical knockout in the second round to Brazilian Mauricio Ruffi at the tournament in Australia.
Idman.Biz reports that according to Badaev, the Azerbaijani fighter looked aggressive and kept moving forward, but failed to keep the fight at the required distance.
"Fiziev was aggressive and kept moving forward, but he couldn't reach the required distance. There were no leg strikes, feints, spinning strikes, and jumps. But I didn't see any skilled work from him," Badaev said on his YouTube channel.
Badaev emphasized that Ruffi skillfully built the fight, using his size and sense of distance.
"Ruffi is a very large and sensitive fighter, he knows how to parry punches without flinching. In the first round, he allowed Rafael to work and even Fiziev won the first round. But in the second round, Ruffi began to land more and more punches, and when he hit the target, he did not miss his chance," said the ACA Vice President.
Badaev also highly appreciated the potential of the Brazilian fighter, calling him one of the most dangerous strikers in the division. "Ruffi was very impressive; he is a talented fighter with good timing. He is almost perfect on his feet. I don't know how strong he is in wrestling, but he has really strong striking ability," he emphasized.
Speaking about Fiziev's prospects, Badaev noted that the fighter has suffered four defeats in the last five fights, but said he hopes this will not seriously affect his future.
"I hope the UFC will not terminate his contract. After all, Fiziev has a serious advantage - he is a very entertaining fighter," Badaev concluded.
