"Neftchi" basketball club needs to build a stronger and larger squad so that injuries do not affect the team too much."
This was stated by Amil Hamzayev, the captain of "the white-blacks".
The 35-year-old player spoke about the Baku representative's performance this season.
"In fact, we started the season very well. But we finished the Azerbaijan Basketball League very differently than we had planned due to injuries. We lost to Absheron Lions in the semi-finals. We lost these matches for the same reason. We had to compete on the court with 2, sometimes 3 local basketball players. I think that a stronger and larger squad should be built so that injuries do not affect the team too much," he said in a statement to report.az.
A. Hamzayev also added that his contract with "Neftchi" has expired:
"We haven't had any discussions about a new contract yet. But, of course, I want to continue playing in the team."
It should be reminded that "Neftchi" lost both matches of the semi-final stage of the Azerbaijan Basketball League to "Absheron Lions" - 89:95, 81:90.
