U-17 World Championship: Our wrestlers' chances for medals depend on their opponents

The U-17 World Wrestling Championship continues in Athens, the capital of Greece.

Idman.biz reports that on the sixth day of the World Cup, the last 5 weight categories are being held among freestyle wrestlers.

Our wrestlers on the mat have advanced to the 1/8 finals at best. Their chances of winning a bronze medal will depend on the performance of their opponents.

Hasan Hasanov defeated Uzbek Fakhriddin Nasriddinov 6:2, but lost to Japanese Rihito Hiura 0:7 in the 1/8 finals.

Rashad Veysalov defeated Polish Ismail Erzanukaev 9:6, but lost to American Cayden James 2:13 in the 1/8 finals.

Said Pashayev defeated Algerian Abderrahmane Meziti 5:4, but lost to Russian David Cebishov (UWW) 3:6 in the 1/8 finals.

It should be noted that Hakim Tagiyev (1️1️0️ kg) won a ticket to the bronze medal match by defeating Armenian Laert Movsesyan 13:4 in the consolation match. Today, he will wrestle Bulgarian Stefan Stefanov in the decisive match. Also, Huseyn Ismayilov (65 kg) will face Arseni Kikinyov (USA) in the final, and Ravan Hasanzada (48 kg) will face Islam Rabadanov (Russia).

The medal matches will start at 19:00 Baku time.
