It is always important to maintain dignified behavior, even when referee errors or injustices occur.
Lent.az reports that this was stated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on April 30, while receiving athletes and their coaches who won medals in Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, and women's wrestling at the European Championship held in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
"Because sometimes there is bias - we have seen this against Azerbaijani athletes not only in wrestling, but especially in European competitions many times. Interestingly, as a rule, injustice against Azerbaijani athletes in European competitions is more common than in world championships. Probably, not everyone in Europe is happy that Azerbaijan participates in European championships and not only participates, but also wins against all European countries. For this reason, I would like to once again note with satisfaction and wish that, wherever you are - on and off the carpet - you will continue to adhere to the principles of dignified behavior. This applies to all athletes representing our country," the head of state noted.
